The symmetry of a butterfly’s wings, towering magic mushrooms, sparkling snails, and a giant pink polkadot frog. The twisted crooks of a branch, the blooms of Spring flowers, and the green foliage spreading across the land. This year’s Galleria Floral Experience, with flowers by Bachman’s, features a fantastical take on the natural world.
Photographing this new Frankenstein commission for a good friend. It’s a Christmas present for his wife. I ripped up an old paperback book of Frankenstein for the base layer of this piece. Used spray paint and permanent ink to add the color and texture. Image transfer via matte medium gel for the black halftone image. Next step is applying Art Resin to the piece.
This 18” x 24” skull piece just sold and is going to its new home in Massachusetts. A few photos showing how I pack artwork for shipping. I first wrap the artwork in kraft paper. Then I wrap it up in two layers of large bubble wrap. Then place it in a sturdy double-layer cardboard box and fill all the voids with packing peanuts to give it a snug fit. Then apply some warning decals for shipping.
A few photos from the opening night of the Winter Wonderland Group Art Show @paradisecenterforthearts in Faribault, MN. I made a piece featuring the landmark Umbrella Tree that was just outside of town. The tree died and was cut down several years ago.

New commission celebrating the life and accomplishments of Balwant Gargi. He was a Punjabi language dramatist, theatre director, novelist, and short story writer, and academic. I used some vintage postcards from India as the background layer. This is going to be a gift for his daughter.
I went to the Walker Art Center Sculpture Garden yesterday with @bethannohalloran. It’s the first time I’ve been there since the big renovation a couple years ago. It’s really nice now. Go check it out this Summer.
I recently finished an Aston Martin commission for a fellow car enthusiast. Here’s some photos showing the different steps in the process- paper pasteup from old books, magazines and maps. Then making some stencils for the cars and logo. And then applying the image transfer (poor mans screen print). Next step is to apply the Art Resin.
